While most production boats are built to conform to ABYC and/or other comparable standards, there are many custom and semi-custom builders out there. New boat builders come and go in cycles which parallel the global and domestic economy. Some of these introduce a model and only produce a few hulls. Some builders rise out of a failed company, and some of those failed for good reason.
